The Preparation for “The Long Walk”: How Casting Director Rich Delia Discovered the Ideal Group | Lionsgate
“The Long Walk” is not like other films. They immediately come together when fifty young guys from the country compete in a cross-country race to determine who can walk the furthest without stopping. These 50 lads, along with the actors who play them, are grouped together in a pack from the beginning of the walk until the very end of the movie. As they “get their tickets punched” in a struggle for survival, they fall apart one by one.
Casting director Rich Delia faced a special problem as a result: finding performers who could portray this deeply emotional and physically demanding material in an ensemble where you don’t completely leave a scene until you leave the movie. Delia became a close partner after joining the project early on.
On Truth Social, the president made some startling comments about the actor, saying that Reiner and his wife passed away “due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”
Trump continued by saying that Reiner’s “obsession” had an impact on other people and that the actor’s “paranoia” had gotten worse as a result of his administration’s purported success and accomplishment of all the objectives they had set since taking office earlier this year.
The casting director cast the movie three times before it was finally seen by viewers, thus it took Delia a long time to locate this special cast. The “key piece” of the final cast was Peter McVries (#23), who was portrayed by David Jonsson in the critically acclaimed film “The Long Walk.” After reading hundreds of applications for the part of McVries, Delia was so thrilled with Jonsson’s audition that he promptly called Lawrence and a studio official to inform them that he had found their man—an actor who could hold the attention and affection of viewers until the very end.
“I was utterly amazed. He portrayed the role in a way I had never seen before; it had an electrifying quality.
The weaponry in the game will have “A TON of visual recoil,” according to a another post. In an attempt to make its weaponry feel realistic, MW2 did the same, however many players criticized the feature because it prevented them from using certain features in both Warzone and multiplayer. During Secretary Hegseth’s recent trip of Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, we learned more about the United States’ long-range Dark Eagle hypersonic boost-glide vehicle weapon system.
“These new locations offer us an opportunity to connect with more food enthusiasts who appreciate the art of sourdough pizza-making, and Bangalore has a discerning food culture.”
Delia then started assembling a cast around Jonsson, including co-lead Cooper Hoffman in the role of Ray Garraty (#47). Delia believed that the character of Ray was tragically and uniquely informed by the death of Cooper’s father, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, who had previously collaborated with Lawrence on the “Hunger Games” franchise. The young walker Cooper would portray lives in the shadow of his own father’s passing, trying to restore the world after a bright light had been dimmed. Cooper’s extraordinary talent and this life experience came together in a way that was indisputable.
“Cooper Hoffman is simply amazing, and the audition wasn’t truly an audition because of that backstory.
The episode, “Parahormonal Activity,” is undoubtedly one to remember because Maggie has been shown as a baby for the majority of the show’s more than 35 years on broadcast. (The title might possibly be a reference to Lohan’s beloved classic movie Freaky Friday.)
Lt. Gen. Francisco Lozano added that he may use Dark Eagle to strike “mainland China from Guam.” He added that it could strike Tehran from Qatar and Moscow from London. The Pentagon has previously released a range declaration for Dark Eagle. According to earlier reports, the weapon’s range was at least 1,725 miles (2,775 kilometers). Its true range is at least 2,175 miles, according to Lozano’s remarks today. It’s unclear if the Army’s own numbers have altered in light of the weapon’s development and testing, or if the prior figure was purposefully “watered down,” as is typical with official missile system data.
After Jonsson and Hoffman, Delia still needed to locate a number of actors that could shine, whether they had a few pivotal scenes or were in it for the duration. The “emotionally full” and “soulful” young actor Tut Nyuot was chosen to play Art Baker (#6), which was his first feature film role (“Getting to be a part of giving him his first major role was very exciting”). For Gary Barkovitch (#5), a figure who straddles the boundary between potential enemy and wounded soul, Charlie Plummer provided the nuance Delia wanted (“His performance had no vanity whatsoever”). In Hank Olson (#46), Ben Wang might provide comedic relief.
Despite being unpleasant, Tuesday’s incident involving Donald and the media was one of the more humorous ones we have witnessed. The President’s relationship with the media doesn’t appear to be very good, and he has frequently responded harshly to female reporters. In response to Rachel Scott’s inquiry regarding whether or not they will share footage of purported airstrikes on Venezuela, he recently insulted her.
Additionally, while on his plane, Donald verbally assaulted female reporters.
This THR Presents interview with cinematographer Barry Ackroyd, which was recorded at Poland’s Camerimage Film Festival, provided a unique, behind-the-scenes insight at how Kathryn Bigelow’s House of Dynamite, which is currently available on Netflix, accomplishes its relentless real-time intensity. Ackroyd traced the visual language of the nuclear-crisis thriller back to the documentary impulses that have formed his decades-long work in an interview with Scott Roxborough, head of THR’s European office.
